Fiery Crash Closes Down Route 101

NHSP investigating early morning crash in Bedford.

New Hampshire State Police, Bedford Police, and Bedford Fire and Rescue teams were called to a crash this morning that caused a Subaru Impreza to burn on the eastbound side of Route 101, according to a report.

Troopers were called to the scene at around 5:45 a.m. on Oct. 21, 2015, and found the vehicle, being driven by a Goffstown man, “fully engulfed” in the right travel lane of the eastbound side of Route 101. A second vehicle – a Subaru Legacy, being driven by a man from Weare – collided with the Impreza prior to the vehicle fire, according to troopers. The roadway was closed for about an hour and a half.

“The preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicles collided and vehicle # 1 traveled off the left side of the roadway, struck the guardrail before catching fire in the roadway,” according to Sgt. Lencki of the NHSP. “Vehicle # 2 pulled over and stopped in the right breakdown lane. There were minor injuries reported at the scene.”
