Update: First-Degree Assault Suspect Arrested By Queen City Police

Drew Fortier was accused of a violent incident in Manchester's South End on Thursday. He was found on Friday.

Update: 11:01 a.m. on Aug. 19: A first-degree assault suspect from Manchester has been caught, according to police.

Drew Fortier, 26, was taken into custody by police on Friday after a statewide hunt in the wake of a “violent incident” in the South End of Manchester on Thursday morning. He was charged with first-degree and second-degree assault charges, both felonies. Fortier, Heather Hamel, a public information officer for the department, was held in preventive detention.

MANCHESTER, NH — Police in Manchester are asking for the public’s help finding a suspect in a first-degree assault case.

Early Monday, police accused Drew Fortier, 26, of “a violent incident” in the city’s South End neighborhood. Fortier, Lt. Matthew Barter said, “is considered to be very dangerous and is believed to be suffering from mental health issues.” He was last seen on foot in the area of Weston Road around 3 a.m.

Fortier is white, about 5 feet, 10 inches tall, and weighs around 155 pounds.

Police warn not to approach him but, instead, call the police at 603-668-8711.
