BHS Goalie Leads Bulldogs to First State Title

Bedford High School, in its fifth year of existance, may already need to order a larger trophy case for its athletics department.

Among its many accolades, the school already has a handful of boys and girls tennis titles, a and a couple .

And on Saturday, BHS earned its latest trophy at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, where sophomore goalie Stevan Tempesta led the top-seeded Bedford hockey team to a 2-1 victory against No. 3 Dover in the Division II finale.

According to the Union Leader, Tempesta stopped 26 shots, including 11 in the third period, to help the Bulldogs hold on for the win.

“We asked (Tempesta) if he could give us a little more today,” Bedford coach Marty Myers told the UL. “To his credit, he did more than his usual.”

Kurt Mitchell and Jason Campbell scored the team's two goals, each in the second period.
