Jeff Kerr Is Running For State Rep
Let's make state government work for all granite staters.

I was born into an Air Force family and we moved all over the world while my dad served for 22 years. I graduated high school and attended college in Florida, then I moved to Texas to start my career as an electrical engineer. While in Texas I met and married my wife and we had two children. After being in Texas for 25 years we decided to move someplace cooler. My company had an opening in Manchester that needed my skills so we packed up and moved to Bedford.
I have been a Bedford resident for 14 years. My kids started at Memorial and graduated from BHS. I coached their soccer and robotics teams when they were young and supported my son when he played in the band at football games.
Now that my kids are in college, I am finding activities to fill those hours when I’m not working full time as a digital electrical design engineer. Riding my bike 2500 to 3000 miles a year takes up some time, but I feel like I have more time to give.

My engineering background provided crucial insight for issues and solutions while serving on the Bedford Energy Commission. As chair I gave leadership to move Beford’s solar landfill project forward. Then I started volunteering to do trail work in Bedford. Although trail maintenance does not involve electrical engineering, I am able to apply my problem-solving skills to bridges and drainage issues. I’ve been maintaining the trails at Legacy Park for several years now putting in snowshoe trails with small bridges. Last winter, I started helping groom the cross country ski trails. With the great snow we had last year, there is more excitement around the ski trails and the ski club. I’m now on the board of the ski club as trail boss.
I also have an interest in renewable energy. I wanted an electric option for mowing and snow blowing, but couldn’t find anything that fit my needs, so I started converting gas powered lawn tractors to electric. I have converted two tractors so far and they are a blast.

In 2023 I was elected to the Town Charter Commission. The process we followed was non-partisan and I learned that when we put the needs of Bedford first, we could work together to come up with great solutions.
I would like to continue to serve this community by going to Concord as a State Representative. I see such a disconnect between our great community and the dysfunction in Concord. We have a state government that is not working to improve the lives and circumstances of their constituents. When I see representatives removed from their committees for exercising their independence, I think we are in danger of losing our Live Free or Die heritage. We are all independent thinkers. It is not in our nature to blindly follow orders without considering the merits. But that is what the state house has become. This failed leadership is not in the best interest of the residents of Bedford.
When elected, I plan to listen to my constituents and vote in their best interests.
We can bring property taxes down by restoring fairness to our revenue system.
We need to support our public schools, not tear them down, so they remain among the best in the country.
We can lower energy costs by using all available types of energy and investing in our energy infrastructure.
We need to preserve local control so that towns are free to make their own budget decisions and not be constrained by politicians in Concord.
