Joggers Struck in Bedford

UPDATE: Police: The runners sustained life-threatening injuries on Pembroke Way; police still investigating; seek alternative routes.

BEDFORD, NH — Bedford Police are investigating an accident between a vehicle and two joggers on Pembroke Way, according to reports online and witnesses at the scene. Police sent out a Nixle alert at around 8:30 a.m. on Nov. 8, 2016. Both runners sustained serious injuries, according to reports.

The crash, according to a press statement by Chief John J. Bryfonski, occurred around 7 a.m. Upon arrival, police learned that a male operator in a sedan struck two adult male pedestrians, according to Bryfonski. The driver was 16, according to police.

"Both pedestrians were transported to Elliot Hospital in Manchester with life-threatening injuries," he noted. "The crash remains under investigation by the Bedford Police Department’s Tactical Accident Reconstruction team. At this time, alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash, however, police are looking into whether frost on the windshield of the sedan may be a factor."
