Man Allegedly Assaults, Threatens Girlfriend with Handgun

Police arrested Zachary Frankenberger after a reported domestic incident where he allegedly flashed a gun, kicked a police officer.

MANCHESTER, NH — A juvenile called 911 on her mother’s boyfriend after he allegedly assaulted and threatened the woman with a handgun, according to police. Zachary Frankenberger, 23, of an known address, was arrested and charged with felony criminal threatening, domestic violence-simple assault, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct, and simple assault on a police officer.

Officers were sent to Notre Dame Avenue after a report of a domestic incident involving a handgun. According to police, a girl walked into Catholic Medical Center and called 911 after an “ongoing dispute” between her mother and Frankenberger.

Police were sent to the home and spoke with Frankenberger and the victim.

“The victim stated Frankenberger began arguing with her and slammed a fan on to the ground while arguing with her,” according to Lt. Brian O’Keefe of the Manchester Police Department. “He removed a .38 caliber handgun from his drawer and waived it at the victim before placing the handgun on the bed. The victim was able to remove the gun from the bedroom when he exited the room. She hid the handgun on the porch prior to police arrival. The victim walked into the kitchen and asked Frankenberger to vacate the apartment they shared.”

The victim attempted to give Frankenberger his rent money back but he refused it and allegedly slapped her hand while she was holding the cash. Officers reportedly found the gun on the porch and Frankenberger was arrested.

“They placed Frankenberger into custody and called for the transport wagon,” O’Keefe alleged. “Frankenberger acted disorderly while yelling and swearing at the officers on scene. He kicked (an) officer in the leg as he was placed into the wagon.”

Frankenberger was scheduled to be arraigned today.
