Man Who Died In Londonderry Officer-Involved Shooting ID’d As Formerly From Bedford
Calvin Ly-Bishop died after exchanging gunfire with police on Winding Pond Road after a reported shooting on Orchard View Drive Wednesday.

LONDONDERRY, NH — A man who previously lived in Bedford died after exchanging gunfire with police in Londonderry on Winding Pond Road on Wednesday, according to the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office.
Londonderry police were sent to Planet Fitness on Orchard View Drive for a report of a gunshot fired inside the facility. When officers arrived, they confirmed no one was injured and a suspect, identified by an employee, had left the facility. Calvin M. Ly-Bishop, 23, formerly of Bedford, was determined to be the man who fired the shot inside Planet Fitness, according to Michael Garrity, the director of communications for the department.
Ly-Bishop reportedly lived nearby and was found by police after a “high-risk stop” on Winding Pond Road near the intersection with Lincoln Drive.

“When officers were conducting a motor vehicle stop of the car, witnesses report Mr. Ly-Bishop came out of his car armed with a handgun,” Garrity said. “During the encounter, gunshots were fired between Mr. Ly-Bishop and three Londonderry Police officers. Mr. Ly-Bishop was struck by gunfire and, despite medical intervention, was pronounced deceased on scene.”

An autopsy was performed on Ly-Bishop on Thursday, and his cause of death was determined to be gunshot wounds to the chest and the manner of death a homicide.

“As used by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, homicide is defined as the killing of one person by another,” Garrity said.
The roads around the neighborhood were closed for several hours. Garrity said everyone involved appreciated the residents’ patience during the investigation and closed roads.
The attorney general’s office and the New Hampshire State Police Major Crime Unit are investigating. He said the officers’ identities will be disclosed after formal interviews, which officials expect to be completed within the next two weeks.
