Manchester Fire Announces Untimely Death Of Firefighter
A 20 year veteran of Manchester Fire Department Has Died In What Officials Call An Untimely Death

MANCHESTER, NH — Manchester Fire Chief Dan Goonan in a statement Thursday announced the death of Firefighter James “Jim” McNeil.
McNeil, 49, had been with the Manchester Fire Department for 20 years, joining the department on July 2000. He was assigned to Station 8, Goonan said.
McNeil was reported missing by his family on Thursday. After a brief investigation, according to Chief Goonan, he was located by local authorities.

“McNeil’s untimely death is a shock to the department and will be difficult to process,” he said.
Goonan said the Granite State Critical Incident Stress Management Team will be activated to provide grief counseling services to the members of Manchester Fire Department.

Goonan said the department “extends their deepest condolences to his family, friends and members of the Manchester Fire Department as we mourn his loss.”
