New Hampshire Honors Fallen Firefighters From 9/11 Tragic Event
Hundreds of people came to Manchester to walk the equivalent of 110 stories to honor those who lost their lives.
MANCHESTER, NH — Hundreds of men, women, and children came to the New Hampshire 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb held at the Delta Dental Stadium in Manchester Sunday.
Memorial Stair Climbs are a way to honor and remember the FDNY firefighters who selflessly gave their lives so that others might live on Sept. 11, 2001. After a ceremony on the field, participants, many with full firefighter gear walked to a memorial bell and read the names of who they were walking for. After ringing the bell they began their tribute by walking the equivalent of 110 stories of the World Trade Center.
Many of the firefighters participating were on the job when the incident happened 21 years ago. Some of the younger participants were not even born at the time, but this is a way to bring focus to the event that changed the country.
