UPDATE: Newark Mayor to Campaign for Obama in NH

Cory Booker will make three stops in the state on Friday.

UPDATE, Dec. 5: The Obama campaign sent out a press release earlier today with details of Newark Mayor Cory Booker's trip to New Hampshire on Friday.

At 9:45 a.m., he will attend an event at Saint Anselm College in Manchester, at 1:45 p.m., he will appear at Plymouth State University, and at 3:45 p.m., he will appear at the University of New Hampshire's Memorial Union Building. All three events are open to the public.

According to the press release, Booker is expected to discuss Obama’s accomplishments on behalf of young people throughout the country, and address what the president is doing to "create new jobs and restore security to America’s middle class."

An earlier story follows:

Newark Mayor Cory Booker will visit New Hampshire next week to lobby for President Barack Obama's 2012 re-election campaign, according to sources familiar with the trip.

Booker, 42, will arrive at the end of next week, according to the sources, who did not say what cities the mayor will visit. A source in New Hampshire, however, said Booker is expected to make stops in Durham, Manchester and Plymouth.

Seen as a rising Democratic political star, Booker is no stranger to the Obama campaign — promoting the president in his first election in 2008, which included headlining the opening of Obama's Texas campaign headquarters in Austin.

But it's Booker's first-ever political trip to New Hampshire.

The trip could signal a step forward in the ongoing rumor that Booker is eyeing New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie's seat in 2013. When asked in October about the possibility of running for governor, the mayor declined to discuss the rumor.
