Police: Robert Larson was arrested this week after a detail officer noticed a suspect vehicle on South River Road earlier this month.

BEDFORD, NH —Police have made an arrest in the case of numerous motor vehicle break-ins at businesses in the area of South River Road off Route 101 after an officer on a detail spotted a suspect vehicle involved in the alleged crimes, according to a press statement. Robert Larson, 28, of Manchester, was arrested on Dec. 14, 2016, for driving after suspension and charged again on Dec. 19, on theft from a motor vehicle, a felony, and criminal mischief charges.

Bedford Police began investigating reports of “numerous cars in business parking lots in the areas of South River Road and off of Route 101 had their windows smashed,” according to a press alert from Chief John J. Bryfonski of the Bedford Police Department.

“In many cases, purses were taken from the vehicles and stolen credit cards were then used at stores,” according to the alert.
Investigators developed a suspected vehicle – a green Nissan Xterra SUV – allegedly connected to the case. Two Wednesdays ago, an officer working a construction detail noticed the vehicle on South River Road and called in the sighting to dispatch. Another officer stopped the vehicle, reportedly identified Larson as the driver, and arrested him on the suspension charge.

“Through surveillance video, Bedford Police were able to identify Larson and the suspect vehicle,” Bryfonski alleged. “Larson was subsequently arrested and charged on Monday, Dec. 19 in connection with the break-ins.”
Since Larson was being held on the suspension charge, the break-in charges were added to his docket. He’s expected to appear in Merrimack District Court on Jan. 3, 2017.
“In order to prevent motor vehicle break-ins, Bedford Police are strongly urging residents to always lock their vehicles, even if it is in your driveway, and to never leave belongings, especially those of value, in the car or in plain view,” Bryfonski added in a press statement.
