Shots Fired Report Leads to Fighting, Stolen Gun, Felon with Machete: Cops
Cops: Michael Hughes was in possession of a loaded firearm stolen from Weare; Laronn Massey, a felon, also arrested on weapons charge.
MANCHESTER, NH — A report of shots fired in same area of the Queen City where an unknown Hispanic man allegedly fired shots, injuring two last week, led to the arrest of two men on weapons charges. Michael Hughes, 25, pictured left, of Manchester, was arrested on July 27, 2016, and charged with possession/receiving stolen property (firearm) and carrying a concealed firearm without a permit. Also arrested was Laronn Massey, 23, of Manchester, on a charge of being a convicted felon in possession of a deadly weapon.

According to police, at just after midnight yesterday morning, officers were sent to a report of shots fired in the area of Union and Auburn streets. While at the scene, four blocks away, in the area of Union and Grove streets, police received a report of men fighting in the area.

“Callers reported four black males were involved in the fight and one was reportedly armed with a knife,” according to Sgt. Michael Biron of the Manchester Police Department.
When they arrived, they located two men who matched the description of those reportedly involved in the fight.

“During the investigation, it was discovered that one subject (Hughes) was armed with a loaded firearm within his front pocket,” Biron alleged. “The second subject, Laronn Massey, was armed with a machete hidden in a sheath under his pant leg.”
Both men were arrested. Massey was charged because he was already a convicted felon, reportedly, according to online reports, after a robbery in New Bedford, MA.
Hughes and Massey were arraigned in Manchester District Court on July 27.
