• State passes on buying Connecticut Lakes Headwater parcel (unionleader.com) — A massive 146,000-acre forest that includes land in Clarksville will stay in private hands after New Hampshire declined to buy it, but logging, public access, and tourism are set to continue under a strengthened stewardship plan. State officials say this should protect local timber jobs, keep snowmobiling and other recreation open, and preserve timber tax revenue for Clarksville and neighboring towns as the sale to Manulife moves toward a September closing.
