1 Taken To Concord Hospital After Downtown Crash
A Jeep crashed into a utility pole at the intersection of Green and Park streets on Friday; a passenger was taken to the hospital.
CONCORD, NH — An officer on patrol downtown came across a crash at Green and Park streets Friday involving a Jeep crashing into a utility pole.
The crash occurred around 10:15 a.m. The vehicle was owned by a Penacook man and a passenger was also in the vehicle. The officer requested backup to perform a field sobriety test on the driver. Other officers arrived while one also checked the utility pole, which had some damage.
“Someone needs to come down here and look at it to see if it can be braced,” the officer told dispatch.

A tow truck (AAA) was also requested. When asked if they wanted to wait until Unitil could inspect the pole, the officer explained later one of the front tires was wrapped around it, so it was hard to see how severe the damage was.
Some officers cleared the scene after the driver passed the field sobriety tests, according to scanner chatter.

Around 11 a.m., Concord fire and rescue teams were requested to speak to the passenger. While there, firefighters also inspected the utility pole.
“(Unitil is) going to need to come and check it,” the fire battalion confirmed.
The driver refused transportation by EMTs while the passenger was given a courtesy ride to Concord Hospital.
