10 NH Colleges Reported Rapes in 2014: Data
Dartmouth was second in the United States for reported sexual assault cases, UNH ranked 13th, according to the U.S. Department of Education.

New Hampshire’s only Ivy League college had the second most sexual assault cases reported on its campus and another nine institutions of higher learning in the state also reported rape cases in 2014, according to data from the U.S. Department of Education.
In a report published in The Washington Post this week, the data indicated that Dartmouth College had the second highest number of rape cases of any college or university in the country – 42 cases out of early 6,300 students enrolled at the school. Two other New Hampshire institutions – UNH and Franklin Pierce – reported more than 10 rapes on campus, 19 and 11, respectively. UNH was ranked 13th on the list nationally.
According to the data, about 100 colleges and universities across the country reported at least 10 sexual assault cases on their main campuses in 2014. Ten facilities in New Hampshire reported incidents in 2014:

When compared to enrollment numbers, Dartmouth drops to 10th on the list nationally, with a rating of 6.7 reports per 1,000 students enrolled.

Many campus advocacy groups believe these numbers could reflect a higher percentage of victims reporting – not necessarily a higher number of assaults taking place. Since sexual assault cases often go unreported, the uptick in the numbers may reflect an increase in the number of students willing to come forward and not necessarily an increase in the number of assaults committed.
