10 Things You Need to Know About This Week
All kinds of great stuff happening in Concord.

Here is everything you need to know about the week ahead:
- A nice weather week. Expect some pretty good weather in the coming days. On Monday, it will be mostly sunny with highs in the mid-50s. On Tuesday, expect similar weather. In the evening though, there could be rain and temperatures drop into the 30s. The rain may flow into Wednesday with temps in the mid-60s. On Thursday, the sun returns, with highs in the mid-60s. Friday will offer similar weather.
- Help the Friends of Forgotten Children. Through April 30, 20 percent of your bill at Friendly’s on Loudon Road will go to the Friends of Forgotten Children. Simply print out the voucher and hand it to your server.
- Are you out of work? An unemployment support group, offering networking help and emotional support, meets at EJ’s on Main Restaurant at 8 a.m. on Monday.
- March for Babies. All day Monday, Uno's will donate 20 percent of the proceeds of the day to the March for Babies. Simply mention “March for Babies” to your server.
- John Bonner's painting. At McGowan Fine Art has a new show starting at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, , running through May 24. There will be at artist reception at 5 p.m. on April 26.
- “Girl Rising.” The Crossroads International Film and Discussion Series continues at Red River Theatres at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, featuring a showing of “Girl Rising,” and a panel discussion afterwards.
- Mentoring. The Woman’s Club of Concord hosts The Circle Program of mentors at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, in an effort to foster relationships between women and girls.
- Build your brand. The Concord Continuing Education Series continues at 6 p.m. on Wednesday with a class on social media basics and how to build your personal brand. The class will be held at Concord High School.
- Alaska. Dale Johnson of Trailwood Films shares his latest work at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the next Walker Lecture Series at the Concord City Auditorium.
- Poetry Thursday. Christopher Locke will present his latest collection of poems at Gibson’s Bookstore at 7 p.m. on Thursday. Martha Carlson-Bradley will also be reading at the store.
