$100K Pledged To Assist Building 8 Apartments For Concord’s Homeless
Merrimack County Savings, funded through the NH CDFA, will assist the Coalition in building 1-bedroom apartments on South State Street.

CONCORD, NH — Merrimack County Savings Bank will spend the next two years assisting a homeless organization in financing the conversion of commercial property in the South End into permanent housing.
The Merrimack has pledged $100,000 to the Concord Coalition to End Homelessness to convert a South State Street building into eight one-bedroom apartments.
“It’s very rewarding to be able to make this contribution that will go toward providing housing and stability to our neighbors in need,” Linda Lorden, the bank president, said. “The Concord Coalition to End Homelessness goes above and beyond to help our homeless community and connect them with valuable resources.”

The money will be funded through the New Hampshire Community Development Finance Authority. The eight apartments will be available to people who are homeless and receiving rental assistance. The tenants will also be receiving ongoing caseworker support during the transition.
“We’re grateful for The Merrimack’s unwavering support and commitment to our mission over the years,” Karen Jantzen, the executive director of the org, said. “This generous donation allows us to continue providing housing options for the 150 to 175 chronically homeless individuals in the Concord area.”
