
Time to Get Out! folks. Here is everything you need to know about this weekend in the city:
- Mixed weekend weather. Forecasters are expecting mostly sunny skies on Saturday with highs in the mid-70s. But the clouds roll in overnight, with temps dropping down to the low 40s. On Sunday, expect cloudy skies with highs in the high 60s. Lows drop down into the mid-40s.
- Crafting fun. The Immanuel Community Church hosts a spring crafting group for adults who like to share ideas and learn from others. It starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday and is free.
- Kiwanis Fair continues. The 58th Kiwanis Fair continues this weekend, running noon to 11 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday at the Everett Arena.
- Meet Sy Montgomery. Nature author Sy Montgomery will sign copies of her new children’s book, “Snowball: The Dancing Cockatoo,” at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Gibson’s Bookstore.
- Roller derby bouts. There are two roller derby matches inside the Everett Arena at 5 p.m. on Saturday as the hometown Demolition Dames take on The Finches. At 6 p.m., The Legislashers duel with the Green Mountain Derby Dames. Tickets are $7.50 with a 50-50 raffle held to benefit charity. Bring toilet paper as a donation and receive an extra ticket for the 50-50 raffle.
- Auction and Swedish meatballs. The Concordia Lutheran Church hosts is 12th annual Swedish meatball dinner and silent auction starting a 5 p.m. Tickets are $4, $8, with proceeds going to the Family Promise, to assist homeless families, and the church's renovation fund.
- Chorale performance. The Suncook Valley Chorale will perform its spring show, , at the Congregational Church of Pembroke at 7 p.m. on Saturday (there is also a show on Friday at 7 p.m. too). Tickets are $15.
- Free ballet. The St. Paul’s School ballet company performs its spring show at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. The performance is free, on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Contra dance. Alice Morris calls a contra dance at the East Concord Community Center at 8 p.m. on Saturday. Tickets are $5-$7, kids under 15 are free.
- Brooks Young Band. The Brooks Young Band plays The Purple Pit at 9 p.m. Tickets are $15 (BYOB).
- Kayak/canoe demo day. Contoocook River Canoe Company hosts a kayak and canoe demo day starting at 9 a.m. on Sunday. It could possibly be the largest on-water demo in the state, according to organizers.
