2 Die In Pickup Truck Crash On Route 3A In Hooksett

West River Road near the Bow town line was closed for 5 hours after a truck struck a utility pole, killing the driver and a passenger.

HOOKSETT, NH — Hooksett police are investigating a double-fatal crash on West River Road on Wednesday.

Around 7:30 p.m., police and firefighters were sent to Route 3A for a single-vehicle crash. They found a pickup truck had struck a utility pole. The driver, according to Sgt. Joseph Ducharme of the Hooksett Police Department, was pronounced dead after Hooksett fire and rescue teams arrived. A passenger was taken to the hospital and died later.

West River Road was closed for a number of hours while the accident was investigated by the department’s crash reconstruction unit. The initial cause of the accident, according to police and WMUR-TV, was the pickup hit black ice, spun around in a 360, and crashed into the utility pole.

Along with firefighters and EMTs, Bow police assisted at the accident scene. Route 3A was reopened to traffic, according to police, around 12:30 a.m.

The names of the victims were not released by police.

WMUR-TV posted a video from the crash scene on Wednesday night.
