5 Things: Food, Kids, Writers, Fun Times in Concord
Here's what's going on in the city today.

- Thunder boomers … Expect some stormy weather before noon, according to forecasters, with light rain into the afternoon. Temperatures will be in the low 80s though. The stormy weather is expected to continue into the evening too, with temps in the 60s.
- Want a smart money kid? Attend a free talk at the Woman’s Club of Concord featuring Melody Evans of Northwestern Mutual at 5:30 p.m.
- Is there a children’s mental health care crisis? The Red River Theatres will feature a showing of which purports to address the issue at 6:15 p.m. A panel discussion will follow the showing. Tickets are $10.
- Meet David Mather. Mather, from Lyme, the author of will talk about his debut novel, set in Chile, which draws upon his life in the Peace Corps. The talk begins at 7 p.m. at Gibson's Bookstore.
- Other stuff. Restaurant Week in New Hampshire continues (through Friday), including a number of Concord establishments that are participating. If you're looking for something for the kids to do, try classes at the Kimball Jenkins School of Art. If you’re 55 or older, you can save 30 percent on your check at Uno’s on Wednesdays. If it’s 8 p.m., it’s trivia time at The Barley House.
