5 Things: It’s Friday, What’s Going On?

  1. Expect rain. Weather forecasters are calling for showers throughout the day with possible thunderstorms in the late afternoon, with temperatures in the mid-70s. The rain is expected into the evening with temps dropping down in the high 40s.
  2. Tell us about dad. Sunday is Father’s Day and those of us at Patch want to know about your dad. What did he teach you? What is or was special about dad? Leave a note in the comment section or, post a note to dad in the Local Voices section of Patch and let him know what you think of him.
  3. Eyes Across the Water. The New Hampshire State Library features photography from around the state in a new exhibit, Eyes Across the Water. The library is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  4. Meet Charles Simic. Former Poet Laureate Charles Simic will be reading from his new book, “New and Select Poems: 1962-2012,” at 7 p.m. at Gibson’s Bookstore.
  5. Tall Granite Jazz Band. Up for a bit of swing? The Tall Granite Jazz Band, a seven-piece ensemble, will be playing at 9 p.m. at The Purple Pit. Tickets are $10 and it’s BYOB, so bring your favorite beverage.
