The Greater Concord Interfaith Council will be holding its 55th Annual Lenten Luncheons on Thursdays starting March 13 and running through April.
The luncheons run from noon to 1 p.m. at St. Peter's Church Parish Hall on 135 N. State St. Tickets are $7 and available at the door. The proceeds will go to the Friends of Forgotten Children.
- March 13: The Rt. Rev. A. Robert Hirschfeld serves as Bishop of the Episcopal Church in New Hampshire, and will focus on how repealing the death penalty in New Hampshire can foster a culture of dignity, respect and non-violence in our society.
- March 20: Rev. Richard Dutton is co-founder and director of Kids4PeaceNH with Rabbi Robin Nafshi. Kids4Peace is an interfaith peace education organization dedicated to encouraging children of different cultures and faith traditions to explore their differences and similarities, and to learn understanding, tolerance and respect, while fostering sustainable friendships across the lines of conflict.
- March 27: Marilyn MacArthur, a member of Immaculate Conception Parish in Penacook, will discuss how to incorporate writing, and specifically journal writing, into a prayer practice fostering spiritual growth.
- April 3: Ellen Groh, Executive Director of the Concord Coalition to End Homelessness (CCEH), and Rev. David Keller, Co-Chair of the CCEH Board of Directors, will share information on how the community is moving forward to address homelessness.
- April 10: Joyce and Bob Ray, members of the First Congregational Church of Dunbarton, UCC, will share their volunteer missionary experiences in Nepal and Japan through their assignments with the Asian Rural Institute.
