6 To 15 Inches Of Snow Heading To The Granite State Sunday Night; Wind Gusts Up To 45 mph: Forecasters

Heavy, blinding snow is expected in central and southern New Hampshire, as well as the Seacoast, from Sunday night to Monday morning.

CONCORD, NH — A winter storm watch has been issued for southern and parts of central New Hampshire with as much as 15 inches of snow expected on Sunday night and Monday morning.

The National Weather Service issued the alert on Saturday afternoon, warning of heavy snow, between 6 and 15 inches, and wind gusts of up to 45 mph, from Concord to Nashua to the Seacoast. The winter storm watch is in effect from 7 p.m. on Sunday to 1 a.m. on Tuesday.

“Visibilities may drop below 1/4 mile due to falling and blowing snow,” the alert stated. “Periods of moderate and heavy snow will combine with low visibility to create dangerous driving conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning and evening commutes.”

Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects and break some tree limbs, the alert stated, but a power outage threat was “limited.” Motorists should use “extreme caution if travel is absolutely necessary.”

Hazardous seas and minor coastal flooding are also possible.

For Concord and the capital region, the snow is expected to start around 1 p.m. and continue into the evening. During the morning and overnight hours, wind gusts of up to 25 mph are expected. Snow will continue into Monday. Total snow accumulation in Concord and the surrounding communities is between 6 and 9 inches.

In Nashua, central and southern New Hampshire, the snow will start around 3 p.m. on Sunday and run through Monday night. Wind gusts of up to 35 mph are expected. Total accumulation should be between 9 and 15 inches.

On the Seacoast, snow will start Sunday night around 11 p.m., with gusts up to 30 mph. The snow will continue into Monday with gusts as high as 45 mph. Total accumulation is expected to be between 8 and 15 inches of snow.

As much as 18 inches of snow is possible in metropolitan Boston, for Granite Staters traveling south.
