A Dollar General Store Could Be Coming to Fisherville Road
Concord Planning Board to hear about proposal Nov. 20.

If Thomas Cheney, the owner of Cheney Apple House Furniture in Penacook gets his way, a new Dollar General store could be coming to Fisherville Road, opposite the Thirty Pines Storage facility.
Cheney will be petitioning the Concord Planning Board for a subdivision request to combine existing lots on the road – addressed at 189, 197, and 207 Fisherville Road – into two. One lot will be about two acres; the other a little more than three.
At the same meeting, scheduled for 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 20, in the Concord City Council Chambers, Cheney and Zaremba Program Development LLC will request a site plan review for a 9,700-square foot Dollar General retail store on the nearly two acre lot, from 197-207 Fisherville Road, right next door to CC Tomatoes.

According to the application (linked here), an existing home on one of the lots is in the process of being removed. The parking lot will have enough spaces for 37 cars, including two handicapped spaces. The impact fee for the project would be about $39,000.
Dollar General, according to its website, is the nation’s larges small-box discount retailer, with more than 10,000 stores, offering between 10,000 and 12,000 skued products and nearly $15 billion in sales. There are currently no Dollar General stores in Concord. There are locations in Epsom, Hillsboro, Nashua, and Tilton.
