A Very Busy Week in Concord (13 Things You Need to Know!)

Here are some of the things going on in the city this week.

  1. Weather looks good. There are going to be good and bad weather days this week, according to the National Weather Service. Today, expect partly sunny skies with highs in the mid-60s. Overnight lows will drop down into the 30s. It will be mostly sunny on Monday, with highs around 60. Lows on Monday night will be in the 30s. Expect similar weather on Tuesday and Wednesday. By Thursday though, there could be some rain but temps will be a little warmer, in the 70s. Expect some rain on Friday too, with temps in the mid-70s.
  2. Unemployed? There’s a support group that meets at 8 a.m. on Monday at EJ’s on Main at the Holiday Inn. It’s free and open to the public.
  3. Concord WISE events. Concord WISE at the Centennial Senior Center is holding events around the city this week including free yoga and tai chi on Monday, a live history presentation on Wednesday, and the second annual senior art gallery on Thursday.
  4. Snips for Celeste. Supercuts on Fort Eddy Road and Loudon Road are , two of the survivors of the Boston Marathon Bombing all day Monday. The chain is holding the “Celeste-A-Thon” at all its locations in New England, so stop by if you need a trim.
  5. Networking. The Suite Success in Networking Group meets at 11:30 a.m. on Monday at The Office Suite on Loudon Road. If you have a small business, are in sales, or offer a service, stop by and network with others, free of charge.
  6. Mags on Tuesday. Stop by Margaritas Mexican Restaurant in Bicentennial Square from 4 p.m. to close on Tuesday, and 15 percent of your pre-tax food and drink order will be donated to the Friends of Forgotten Children.
  7. Poetry Wednesday. The Poetry Society of New Hampshire’s monthly slam at Gibson's Bookstore will feature Linda Aldrich and Robert Crawford, along with an open mic. The event is free and starts at 7 p.m.
  8. Kiwanis Fair this week. The 58th Annual Kiwanis Fair opens at 5 p.m. on Thursday, at the Everett Arena grounds, with fun stuff happening on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
  9. Restaurant Week begins. Starting on Friday and running through May 24, the second annual Restaurant Week begins all around the state.
  10. Monthly meal. The Grace Episcopal Church hosts its free monthly community supper at 5 p.m. on Friday. This month, it’s chicken potpie with cranberry, bean salad and chocolate cake. It’s free, but donations will be accepted for the Take-A-Tote ministry program that feeds hungry Concord school children.
  11. Friday block party. The Concord Family YMCA hosts a Fun Family Block Party at 5:15 p.m. on Friday at the intersection of North State and Warren streets. It’s free and open to the public (FYI: Warren Street between Green and North State will be closed off to traffic).
  12. Meet Cathie Pelletier. as well as nine other novels, will be at Gibson’s Bookstore at 7 p.m. on Friday.
  13. Ballet. The St. Paul’s School ballet performs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday (as well as Saturday too), offering its spring performance featuring August Bournonville's “Flower Festival,” Yvonne Rainer's “Trio A” and a new work by Nicole Pierce of EgoArt Inc. It’s free and open to the public.
