AARP Names Ayotte 'Champion of the 50+'

The leadership award was given in recognition of the NH Senator's work on behalf of seniors and support for family caregivers.

MANCHESTER, NH — U.S. Senator Kelly Ayotte was recently named as a recipient of AARP’s 2016 “Champion of the 50+” legislative leadership award in recognition of her work on behalf of New Hampshire seniors and support for family caregivers.

“The work Senator Ayotte has done to improve the lives of Granite State families as we age – and help to care for family members who are aging – will help give current and future generations the opportunity to live their best lives,” said AARP New Hampshire State Director Todd Fahey. “She has put partisanship aside to find solutions that have a substantial impact on the lives of New Hampshire families.”

In a statement, Ayotte said she cared deeply about ensuring New Hampshire’s seniors receive the very best care and have the dignity of a secure retirement.

“I am honored to be recognized by AARP and grateful for the work we’ve done together to support New Hampshire’s seniors,” she said. “It’s so important that we give Granite Staters the very best care and dignity of a secure retirement, and I’ve been proud to work on solutions for seniors and family caregivers. I’ll continue to work with AARP and people on both sides of the aisle to improve the quality of life for people all across New Hampshire.”

Ayotte is the co-founder of the bipartisan Assisting Caregivers Today (ACT) Caucus and has introduced legislation including the RAISE Act and the Credit for Caregivers Act to support family caregivers.
