After A Warmup And Flooding, The Freezing Temps And Wind Return To New Hampshire
National Weather Service forecasters issued a flood watch alert, warning of freezing temperatures on Thursday and wind gusts up to 35 mph.

CONCORD, NH — After a rainy and warm day on Wednesday, the weather is about to change this weekend in New Hampshire.
On Wednesday morning, the National Weather Service issued a “flood watch” for nearly all of New Hampshire, running through 7 a.m. on Thursday. Forecasters said the rain and warm temperatures melting snow could raise stream flows. Cold air moving into the state on Thursday will slow the runoff. But the response from rivers and streams could last through the week’s end and trigger flash flooding.
“The area of greatest concern is in the foothills where the combination of rain and snowmelt will be highest,” the flooding alert said. “In the mountains, the colder and drier snowpack will limit the flood extent, but isolated ice jams and rapid runoff from area hills could cause localized flooding.”

Rapid rises in small streams are likely, the alert stated, with concerns shifting river ice could also cause issues.
As much as 2 to 3 inches of rain is expected through Thursday.
