During the process of driving behind the vehicle, the officer reported that when the Accord’s brakes were applied, there was a defective driver’s side brake light and stopped the vehicle on Concord Street.

The officer spoke with the driver – Barton – and four other passengers in the vehicle. After another officer arrived, the first officer checked the names of everyone in the vehicle and Barton had two active warrants.

One of the warrants was issued on two drug dealing charges from March 1, 2016, at Home Depot, and March 2, 2016, at Walmart, allegedly involving $500 worth of methamphetamine. The second warrant was for a theft incident at Walmart on March 16, 2016.

Dispatch confirmed that the physical warrants were active and Barton was arrested without incident.

Barton is due in court on July 25.
