Alleged Wrong-Way Driver Charged with Aggravated DWI
Kirk Meinheit of Lakeville, MA, was arrested on I-89 in Hopkinton on numerous charges after allegedly driving south in the northbound lane.
CONCORD, NH — A Bay State man was arrested last night in Hopkinton for alleged wrong-way drunk driving on I-89, according to New Hampshire State Police. Kirk Meinheit, 60, of Lakeville, MA, was arrested on May 26, 2017, for aggravated driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, and transporting opened alcoholic beverages. According to a press statement, state troopers were sent to the area of Mile Marker 14 in Warner at just before 7 p.m. last night, according to Staff Sgt. Andrew Player of Troop D.

“The New Hampshire State Police received multiple calls on a black 2011 Chevrolet Silverado as it traveled south in the northbound lane of the highway,” he alleged. “The driver was stopped seven miles after the initial complaint when the driver attempted to back up along the Exit 5 off ramp in Hopkinton.”

The driver was identified as Meinheit and arrested on numerous charges. Hopkinton Police, according to Player, assisted at the scene.
Meinheit is due in court on June 9.
