Weather forecast:
1. Maine Trucker Arrested On Drug, DUI Charges After I-89 Crash: New Hampshire State Police Roundup (patch.com) — State police say a Maine trucker crashed his tractor-trailer into a guardrail on I-89 in Bow early Sunday, damaging about 200 feet of barrier and closing lanes for roughly five hours. The driver faces multiple drug, DUI, registration, and lane control charges and is scheduled for arraignment in Concord District Court later this month. A lengthy state police blotter also details several recent DUI and criminal arrests in Concord and surrounding towns.
2. Armed Career Criminal From Montana Gets 12.5 Years On Gun, Meth Charges After 2025 Vehicle Stop In Bow (patch.com) — An armed career criminal from Montana has been sentenced in Concord to at least 12.5 years in prison after a 2025 traffic stop on I-93 in Bow led to the discovery of a stolen car, handgun, ammunition, and meth. The judge, citing decades of prior violent convictions and New Hampshire’s mandatory minimums, rejected defense suppression arguments and urged the 60-year-old to use prison programs to turn his life around.
3. Familiar faces tapped for leadership posts in Concord Schools (concordmonitor.com) — Concord families will see several major leadership changes in the school district, including longtime Concord High assistant principal Jim Corkum stepping up as principal and Christa McAuliffe principal Kris Gallo becoming assistant superintendent. New student services leaders are also joining from nearby districts, with a focus on restorative practices, special education, and curriculum support that will shape daily life in Concord schools.
4. With little notice, Concord Ed Board buys abutting home for temporary use during middle school construction (concordmonitor.com) — Concord’s school board has quietly agreed to buy a house at 20 Conant Drive for about $373,000 to use as office space during construction of the new middle school, instead of renting temporary trailers. District officials say the purchase, funded within the existing $155 million project budget, should save money long-term and could later be sold or folded into the campus, though neighbors had little advance notice.
5. League Of NH Craftsmen Names 'One Horse Open Sleigh' As 2026 Ornament (patch.com) — Concord art lovers can pick up the League of NH Craftsmen’s newly announced 2026 “One Horse Open Sleigh” pewter ornament at the local League gallery later this year. Created by Antrim metal artist Walker Boyle, the hand-finished, numbered piece continues the League’s long-running annual ornament tradition and will also be featured at the August Craftsmen’s Fair at Mount Sunapee.
