MANCHESTER, NH — Manchester police have arrested a 20-year-old Allenstown man in connection with the alleged hate-fueled vandalism of the Moka Pot, a downtown business targeted earlier this month.
Police took Tyler Inman into custody Thursday night. He has been charged with criminal mischief and falsifying evidence.
The investigation began on Sept. 16, when authorities were alerted to extensive damage at the Moka Pot, located at 8 Hanover St.
Officers arriving at the scene discovered several broken windows alongside disturbing, intimidating graffiti — including swastikas and the words "White Power" — spray-painted across the business facade.
After an intensive investigation, detectives and crime analysts established probable cause and secured an arrest warrant for Inman.
"This arrest reflects the dogged determination of the detective and crime analyst assigned to the investigation. They pursued every lead, examined the evidence carefully, and refused to let this case go," Manchester Police Chief Peter Marr said. "The hateful graffiti at the Moka Pot was deeply disturbing. Hate has no place in Manchester, and we will continue to do everything we can to seek accountability through the justice system."
City officials and community members rallied behind the business after the mid-September attack.
"The hateful and disgusting vandalism we saw last week at The Moka Pot is something the City of Manchester unequivocally condemns," Mayor Jay Ruais said. "I want to thank Chief Marr and the men and women of the Manchester Police Department for their work in thoroughly investigating and making an arrest in connection with this despicable act. This act was not a reflection of the character of Manchester. In the days since, our community has come together to denounce this hatred and stand with The Moka Pot and all those impacted. Acts like these will never be tolerated in our city."
Given the nature of the allegations and the bias elements of the crime, the case will be prosecuted in coordination with the New Hampshire Attorney General's Office.
