📰 News we're reading

• Teen Faces Rape, Threat Charges Worker Dies At Construction Site More: Nearby News NH (patch.com) — Several recent Concord incidents top last week's Patch stories, including a teen indicted on rape and threat charges and a student taken into custody after a fight near Concord High School. The roundup also highlights a crash into a Concord Heights building and other serious crime and safety stories from around New Hampshire.

• Vintage Views: It was a poor farm (concordmonitor.com) — A local writer traces the history of the Merrimack County Poor Farm in nearby Boscawen, once closely tied to Concord through the county almshouse and state asylum. Drawing on family stories and research, he reflects on how Concord-area residents with illness, poverty, or injuries were once sent there, and on the forgotten people buried in its often-flooded cemetery.

• Another unhoused man in Concord challenges N.H.'s loitering law (concordmonitor.com) — An unhoused man living in northern Concord has filed a federal lawsuit challenging New Hampshire's loitering law, after repeated encounters with Concord police, including one stop a judge ruled unlawful. Backed by the ACLU, he's seeking to merge his case with an earlier Concord-related lawsuit, arguing the statute is vague, encourages arbitrary stops, and disproportionately affects homeless residents.
