Marathon experience: 4 marathons in 2012, 4 more marathons scheduled for 2013 (Boston included)
Reason for running: I was raised to make athletics and health a priority, so after having ACL reconstructive surgery on both of my knees (shout out to Dr. Cummings at Quality Orthopedic Care!) running became my outlet. Running helped me, and continues to help me, grow stronger and gain confidence in my abilities. As my obsession with running grew I started running marathons. Marathons push me further than I ever thought possible, physically as well as mentally, and I've learned so much about myself along the way. Running a marathon is an indescribable feeling and I'm so excited that my dream of running Boston is soon to come true. I am so blessed and I hope to be a runner for the rest of my life.
Training tip: During training it is important not to build mileage too quickly. Your body needs time to adapt and grow stronger. If you dedicate the time to slowly preparing your body for the distance you decrease your chances of injury and burn out.
