Apartment Fire Reported On North State Street In Concord: Watch

CONCORD, NH — Concord fire and rescue teams were sent to the Concord Arms apartment building on North State Street for an apartment fire on Saturday.

Capital region dispatch began receiving calls around 6:15 p.m. about white smoke coming from the fourth floor of the building. Water, too, was seen flowing from one of the windows.

The first arriving firefighters confirmed the smoke and water coming from the building due to the sprinkler activation. Alarms were also audible from the building.

A fire commander requested the sprinklers be shut down. Another firefighter reported a laundry basket was on fire on the fourth floor.

Firefighters used fans to clear the smoke from the building and also checked the roof and the top-floor apartments. The firefighters were able to shut down the sprinklers but not the alarm. They reported no extension from the basket but confirmed to command there was extensive water damage due to the sprinklers.

“Oh,” one firefighter said, “that’s affirmative.”

Bow EMTs and the Tri-Town Ambulance provided mutual aid to the city during the fire. The commander requested fire prevention and a property representative to be contacted. He also was requested a working fire call be activated to keep backup and mutual aid in the city until they finished cleaning up. A Hooksett engine was brought into the city, and Tri-Town Ambulance stayed to assist.
