At around 4:30 a.m. on the morning in question, an officer reportedly observed a 2005 Pontiac Sunfire, with its headlights off, take a left onto South Main Street from Storrs Street. The officer stopped the vehicle underneath the bridge at Exit 13 and Manchester Street. During the interaction with the driver, MacDaid allegedly stated that he did not have a valid operating license, something that was later confirmed by the officer. Another officer arrived at the scene to help with the call. MacDaid, who had two underage passengers in the car, reportedly said he was heading home after being at a relative’s house on Fisherville Road watching movies. When asked why he was driving on Storrs Street without the car’s lights on, MacDaid allegedly stated he was trying to “avoid the cops” and the well lit areas of Main Street. The car, it turned out, was not his, and while waiting for the owner to show up, MacDaid’s story about whether he had permission to use the car allegedly flipped back and forth, according to the report. • Alan E. Poneleit, 51, of Concord, was arrested at 1:51 a.m. on March 7, on two counts of driving while intoxicated. Officers were called to North State Street for a report of a noise complaint, with dispatch reporting that there might be an individual on a fire escape yelling and making noise. The officers were unable to locate anyone on the fire escape or any noises. While leaving the area though, the officers observed a man standing near the northeast corner of the building, leaning up against a fence. The officers spoke to the man, later identified as Poneleit, and asked him why he was hanging around. Poneleit reportedly said he was waiting to get his wallet out of his car but the police were all parked in his way. As Poneleit spoke, the reporting officer alleged that he was “unsteady on his feet” and smelled of alcohol. “Poneleit slurred his words as he spoke and appeared to be impaired,” the officer wrote. An officer asked for an ID and Poneleit pulled his wallet out of his pocket and gave it to the officer, making the officer wonder about the man's previous comments about not having access to his wallet due to police cruisers being in the way. Later, the ID was returned to Poneleit and he was told not to drive. “He told us that he would not,” the officer alleged. The officers left the scene but not before asking Poneleit if he wanted to have a cab called for him. Poneleit reportedly said no, and had his phone out, saying he was calling for one. The officers left the scene with the reporting officer driving on North State Street to School Street and then onto Green Street. At the intersection of Green and Pleasant streets, the officer reportedly observed at 2012 Nissan Rogue with a driver that appeared to have the same clothing on that Poneleit was wearing. Dispatch confirmed that the car was owned by Poneleit. The officer pulled up to the Nissan which was now parked on Pleasant Street. The officer spoke to Poneleit and he allegedly held his hands out and instructed the officer to “just take me.” After performing a field sobriety test, Poneleit was arrested.
