Deering Man Allegedly Assaults Woman

Sends sometime girlfriend to the hospital; faces multiple charges.

officers were recently sent to a South State Street address where a Deering man allegedly beat up his sometime girlfriend.

, 24, of Deering, was arrested on Feb. 6, and charged with Second Degree Assault, a felony, and Default Or Breach Of Bail Conditions.

According to an affidavit report, police were called to an apartment building on South State Street on Feb. 3, after a woman was reportedly heard screaming, “call the police” from her apartment. The officer wrote in his report that he and another officer were “familiar with the address from previous domestic incidents that have taken place at this residence.”

Before going to the apartment of the alleged victim, the officers visited the apartment of the reporting party, a relative of the woman, who stated that she believed that had fled the scene. They quickly made their way up to the apartment where they found a woman sitting on a couch, covered in blood.

At the hospital, it was revealed that the woman’s nose was broken, according to the report.

The officers wrote in their report that she alleged that had been in and out of her apartment for most of the day. During the evening, she reportedly told officers, the two began drinking shots of vodka. At some point during the evening, the couple began to discuss their relationship and the woman accused Deschenes of lying to her, according to the report. Deschenes then allegedly became angry, punched her in the face a number of times, and as she began to protect herself, punched her in the back, while she screamed for help. He later fled the scene.

The officer noted in his report that was out on bail stemming from other alleged domestic related charges which took place at the same residence on Jan. 17. The officer stated in the report the Deschenes had already violated the conditions of his bail on Jan. 30, when he contacted the woman.

Three days later, the police were able to track down Deschenes where he was arrested, charged, and held without bail.
