Bank Hosting Peanut Butter And Jelly Drive
Bangor Savings Bank locations in Amherst, Concord, and Portsmouth will be collecting the sandwich favorite for hunger prevention orgs.

CONCORD, NH — A Maine bank with locations in New Hampshire is attempting to spread love to others by collecting food at its branches. Bangor Savings Bank is collecting peanut butter and jelly jars through May 31, 2019, as part of its annual drive. The containers of the sandwich favorite will be donated to food pantries and other hunger prevention and relief programs, providing a high-protein item that can sometimes be in short supply.
Donations can be made inside any of the bank’s locations during operating hours. The company has six locations in the Granite State: three in Portsmouth as well as locations in Amherst, Concord, and Colebrook.
During the past seven years, the drive has collected more than 66,000 jars of peanut butter and jelly. The bank is hoping to collect more than 12,645 this year to beat a prior record.

“We continue to see the impact of food insecurity across our region,” said Bangor Savings Bank President and CEO Bob Montgomery-Rice. “We are proud to help area food pantries through our Peanut Butter and Jelly Drive each year. We believe that together we can reduce hunger across New England and we’re sincerely grateful for the continued support of our employees, customers and local businesses.”
The bank has also added a social media angle to the drive. The company will contribute two jars for every “selfless selfie” taken when someone drops off a donation. People can email their selfies to socialmedia@bangor.com and the photos will be posted on the bank’s Facebook account.
