BB Gun Shooting At Homeless Camp Sends Man To Concord Hospital: Watch

Police were sent to Healy Park where a man was shot in the chest; EMTs took him to the hospital with serious injuries; suspects ID'd.

CONCORD, NH — Concord police are investigating a BB gun shooting in one of the homeless camps in William Healy Memorial Park, near the Exit 13 onramp of Interstate 93 on Saturday.

Around 2:45 p.m., police dispatch received a report about a man, down in the middle of Manchester Street, who had been shot in the face. Half a dozen officers headed to the scene while Concord fire and rescue teams were also requested.

The man was reportedly covered in blood, according to witnesses.

A witness told Patch later that the victim was shot in the chest not the face.

The first arriving officers told the other officers to slow down since the injury was not a real gun but a BB gun.

“It’s not a gunshot right now,” one officer said.

Tower 1 and Ambulance 4 staged at the intersection until police could secure the scene.

The victim was identified as a man in his mid-40s. A few minutes later, he was taken to Concord Hospital with serious injuries. The man identified two suspects, a man and a woman, who were involved in the incident and told police the camp where they could be located.

Officers then began searching for suspects.

“If you walk, about a quarter of a mile,” one officer said, “there’s a city back there.”

One officer said there was “a pool of blood” on the ground, not far from the fork in the trail.

Several witnesses were interviewed as officers searched the camps for the suspect.

According to scanner chatter, police secured the BB gun. One of the two suspects was found around 3:30 p.m.
