Better Business Bureau of New Hampshire Accepting Applications for 2017 Torch Awards
Businesses that demonstrate outstanding business practices to be recognized at 17th Annual Torch Award event on June 14

Concord, New Hampshire – The Better Business Bureau of New Hampshire (BBB) is currently accepting applications for the 2017 BBB Torch Awards for Marketplace Ethics. Applications are being accepted through Wednesday, May 17 and are open to all for-profit U.S. businesses that operate and provide goods or services in New Hampshire. Three for-profit New Hampshire businesses that demonstrate outstanding business practices and promote a trustworthy marketplace will be honored at the 14th Annual Torch Award event on Wednesday, June 14 from 5-7:30 pm at Bedford Village Inn, 2 Olde Bedford Way, Bedford.
“Each and every year through the Torch Awards, we uncover powerful stories of businesses going above and beyond regarding ethical practices and excellent customer and employee interaction. We’re looking forward to reviewing our 2017 applicants and recognizing three organizations that provide exceptional service to the community and are truly committed to business excellence,” said Robert Shomphe, president/CEO of BBB.
The Torch Awards for Marketplace Ethics is designed to promote the importance of ethical business practices and the willingness and efforts made by outstanding businesses to ensure that the marketplace remains fair and honorable. The awards are given out annually to the top small, medium-sized and large business categories based on the number of employees. Applications can be found online and can be completed in less than an hour. BBB accreditation is not required to apply, however all applicants must be in good standing with the New Hampshire BBB.

A company is not eligible to apply for the Torch Award if any of the following conditions apply:
- They have been in business less than one year
- They have earned less than a “B” rating from BBB
- They have been involved in a serious lawsuit
- They are advertising unsubstantiated claim
BBB promotes and fosters the highest ethical relationship between businesses and the public through voluntary self-regulation, consumer and business education, and service excellence.
