Bicyclist From Concord Dies After Crash On South Main Street
Joel Bashaw died after being struck by a vehicle near Holly Street on Wednesday; investigators seek Concord Regional Crimeline tips.

CONCORD, NH — Concord police are asking for the public’s help after a bicyclist died after being struck by a vehicle on South Main Street on Wednesday afternoon.
Around 3:15 p.m., police and fire and rescue teams were sent to the area of South Main Street between Langdon Avenue and Holly Street for a crash. Callers reported a vehicle and a bicyclist were involved in the crash. When EMTs and firefighters arrived, they immediately requested a trauma alert at Concord Hospital.
The bicyclist, Joel Bashaw, 61, of Concord, was not conscious and suffered a broken arm and head trauma, according to scanner chatter. EMTs took him to the hospital, where he was taken to a trauma room for treatment and pronounced dead later.

More police arrived and immediately shut down Holly Street and South Main Street between McKinley and Pillsbury streets. Witnesses were also interviewed.
Not long after the crash, police and firefighters were sent to Thompson and South State streets for another crash involving multiple vehicles.

South Main Street, according to Deputy Chief John Thomas, was shut down for several hours during the investigation.
“The investigation into this crash is ongoing,” he said.
