KickStarter finish line - LCMG 155% Funded by 774
Around the country moms, dads and kids are discovering the joy of cargo bicycling.
Love your ride!
Update 5/11/14 - The story of the cargo bicycle revolution film production exceeded funding and stretch goals 1 and 3. If you contributed, you know from Liz Canning's Update #14 that 774 fell short of stretch goal 2 (1000 backers). Nonetheless there's plenty to celebrate!
Xtracycle is going to provide a bike to a low-income family and Metrofiets is going to make Emily Finch whole again (their family cargo bike was stolen this year). Both will be filmed with their new transport for inclusion in the film. See Update #14 for the details. You can still make a donation post-deadline for film production via Liz Canning's site (look for the "donate" button).
Cargo bicycles change lives. The film will allow more people to discover the fun of transportation cycling. If you're in - thank you for joining me in supporting the project.
Happy Mother's Day!
Today (5/10/14), fundraising for the story of the cargo bicycle revolution wraps up at 12:22pm EDT.
On Tuesday 484 backers of the KickStarter campaign pledged $40,000 to fund the documentary film production. A day later stretch goal 1 - $50,000 was pledged. With 18 hours to go stretch goal 3 of $60,000 was met by 702 backers.
Goal 2 remains unresolved and Today we will know if a low-income family will have a new vehicle to transform and improve their lives. I have experienced how pedal power transforms livability (see: cyclemainstreet).
Cycling is now my every day choice. My car sits most days, leaving it's parking place only one day a week. Irving Oil continues to email, requesting I visit soon to buy gasoline! It's nice to be missed.
Instead of sitting in traffic pushing the accelerator and brake and pulling into fuel stations, I pedal bicycles. Driving 100 miles requires $14 for fuel alone and driving costs $0.51 per mile, while cycling costs almost nothing per mile. Muscle powered pedaling is a lot more fun!
City General Services came by to sweep our street this week, making cycling even more enjoyable. I am grateful. Your street may be next.
Later this year the LCMG: Car < Go story on the cargo bike movement will be finished. Liz Canning announced after stretch goal 1 was met ($50K pledged) that ...
"by way of thanks I will give ALL Backers "backstage" online access to uncut, uncensored interviews with cargo bike luminaries such as Ross Evans, Mikael Colville Andersen, George Bliss, Emily Finch, Ben Sarrazin, and yours truly--Liz Canning!"
There is still time to back the project. Participate by pledging one dollar ($1) or more. Become one of a thousand backers before 12:22pm EDT Today and transform a life. Get exclusive access to uncut interviews. Discover how you can love your ride.
