‘Black Widow’ Flees Hit-And-Run, Crashes On Mountain Road In Concord
Update: A Dodge Charger crashed into a truck at the Exit 16 roundabout, then a pole by Shaker Road Friday; 1 teen arrested, 1 man at large.
CONCORD, NH — Concord police are investigating two crashes in East Concord, one that closed Mountain Road on Friday for a short period of time, with suspects reportedly fleeing the crash scene.
Around 4:30 p.m., an area resident called the police to report a crash on Mountain Road. She said she heard the crash, went to see what was happening, and saw a car spun out in the front yard of a nearby home.
The caller told dispatch the crash was just north of Shaker Road and there were “a bunch of people around,” so it was unknown how many cars were involved.

Dispatch learned a few minutes later, a sheriff’s deputy, who was in the area, got out of her cruiser and began chasing a man who fled the area. The deputy told dispatch she tried to stop the car after a crash, and after stopping, men fled the scene. She reported having the driver in custody.
The first Concord police officer at the scene said a second vehicle may have been connected to the Charger and was at the roundabout near Exit 16. The officer confirmed airbag deployment in the Charger.

A second officer requested Unitil to come out and deal with the damaged pole, which snapped in the middle and was wedged into the ground. Suspecting live wires might fall in the street, Mountain Road was shut down. More officers were then sent to the area.
The vehicle at the roundabout was described as a black Chevrolet Silverado being driven by a woman. The truck had rear-end damage. The woman accused the driver of the Charger of crashing into her truck and fleeing. She also claimed there were two people inside the Charger.
Police dispatch warned officers in the field that a man connected to the Charger had several previous run-ins with the police. The man was also arrested by New Hampshire State Police four days before and was accused of possessing a loaded handgun. He also did not have a license, dispatch said.
Around 5:15 p.m., an officer in the field took a report from a witness reporting a second man fleeing the scene. The man ran toward the woods near Shaker Road after the crash. He was described as taller with short dreads, wearing blue pants, a “colorful sweatshirt,” and carrying a backpack.
Unitil arrived to inspect the pole around 5:30 p.m. and discovered it was a Consolidated Communications pole. That company was then called. Mountain Road was reopened to one lane of traffic about 15 minutes later. An officer navigated vehicles around the crash scene.
Other officers searched the Shaker Road and Cemetery Street area for the second man. He is still at large.
A tow truck was requested for the Charger, and the road was completely reopened after it was towed.
On Oct. 11, Concord police told Patch the arrested driver was a juvenile, so their information would not be released publicly. The passenger was still at large and the case was still an open investigation.
