U.S. House Speaker John Boehner announced his proposals for immigration at a GOP meeting in Cambridge, Maryland. Boehner suggested that the GOP embrace some form of legalization for the 11 to 20 million illegal aliens in the U.S. Boehner also called for a massive increase in the number of guest workers allowed into the country.
Boehner suggested that both Republican and Democratic administrations had ignored existing immigration laws. Boehner made some hazy promises about "triggers" that would force Pres. Obama and future administrations to enforce immigration laws. Boehner is full of beans, and he knows it.
Boehner wants to increase the number of visas for low-skilled and high-skilled workers. Agribusiness and Silicon Valley will get all the cheap labor they want and more under the Boehner plan. Boehner just related to his U.S. House members the wish list of every cheap labor hog outfit.
It is now up to the proud band of pro-worker U.S. House members to go to the country and tell them why Boehner's cheap labor attack on U.S. workers should be rejected. Boehner can not be trusted on immigration.
