Bone Builders Expands to Bow Later this Month

The Friends Retired and Senior Volunteer Program will be holding classes twice a week starting Jan. 6.

The Friends Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) is pleased to announce the expansion of its senior wellness program, Bone Builders, to Bow. The twice-weekly osteoporosis prevention classes will be held each Tuesday and Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the White Rock Senior Living Community.

Bone Builders classes feature low-impact exercises that yield high-impact results. These senior strength sessions improve bone and muscle strength, balance, circulation and general health. Classes are held year-round at local senior centers, senior housing buildings, and other locales. Friends RSVP-trained volunteers lead classes at 21 locations in Merrimack, Rockingham and Belknap counties. Over 2,000 classes are taught annually.

Friends Bone Builders classes are free to attend but registration is required. To register at this or any of the 20 other locations, call Friends RSVP Coordinator Katie Lynch at 228-7608.

The Friends Program accomplishes this through Four Programs that mentor at-risk youth, shelter homeless families, and fulfil the need of seniors and retired people to actively contribute to the community. Friends RSVP operates in Merrimack, Rockingham, Strafford, and Belknap counties where the organization has placed seniors in over 200 volunteer roles at non-profits and public agencies.
