According to state police, at around 9:40 a.m., a trooper working on special enforcement traffic monitoring from the air tracked a 2007 Toyota RAV4 on the ground “traveling at an extremely high rate of speed,” clocked at 104 mph in a 65 mph zone, according to Capt. Christopher Vetter of the NHSP.

The trooper in the air radioed a trooper on the ground just as the RAV4 darted passed by a trooper on I-89. The vehicle was stopped at Exit 5, according to the report.

“When asked why he was traveling at that speed, Morrill stated that he was late to work at a local ski area,” Vetter alleged.

Morrill was charged and released. He’s due in court on April 28.

The NH State Police Special Enforcement Unit, Vetter noted, regularly interdicts elevated speed violations and other aggressive driving behaviors. Its members patrol across the state often utilizing the state police aircraft during commuter traffic periods and holiday travel times with the goal of keeping New Hampshire’s roadways safe for all residents and visitors, he added.
