Boscawen Woman Arrested on DWI, Drug Charges

Police allege that there were needles and Suboxone in her car.

A local woman was arraigned this week on various charges after a motor vehicle stop on North State Street.

Caitlyn Emilee Ladd, 25, of Boscawen, was arrested at 12:57 a.m. on Jan. 8, and charged with driving while intoxicated, transportation of alcohol/open container, two counts of possession of controlled drugs, one a felony, and possession of drugs.

A tipster reported seeing a Chevrolet Aveo traveling on North State Street, without its lights on, and stated that the driver might be impaired, according to a Concord arrest report.

An officer on Fisherville Road began to head to the area and spotted the car without its lights on and without a front plate. The car was pulled over near the intersection with Sewalls Falls Road.

The officer knocked on the driver’s side window to get the driver’s attention “several times.” When the driver, later identified as Ladd, finally rolled the window down, the officer allegedly spotted a Solo cup near the radio controls with a dark colored liquid in it. Another officer appeared on the scene while the officer spoke with Ladd.

The officer requested to look at the cup and Ladd reportedly handed it to the officer, who later wrote that it smelled like Twisted Tea. The other officer reported seeing a glass smoking device “in plain view, on the front passenger seat.”

Ladd was asked to step out of the car for a field sobriety test and reportedly questioned the request. Later, she agreed, and was allegedly “very slow and lethargic” in her mannerisms, putting on a sweatshirt and getting out of the car. “She appeared tired, and was moving as if she was in slow-motion.”

Ladd was later arrested.

The Aveo was towed to the police station. Inside her handbag, an officer allegedly found three hypodermic needles, a spoon with burnt residue, four small baggies with white powder traces, shoestring, and two unopened 8 mg strips of Suboxone.

Ladd was released on $12,000 personal recognizance bail and had a court date on Jan. 27. She also was cited for front lights violation.

Last year, Ladd was arrested on a theft charge
