74-Year-Old Bow Man Charged with Prostitution

A 74-year-old Bow man is facing a prostitution charge after he allegedly paid for sex with a Manchester woman 45 years his junior.

According to a Manchester Police Department press release, Officer Darren Murphy was on patrol in the area of Manchester and Union streets around 8:40 p.m. Wednesday when he observed a vehicle circling the area. He later saw that vehicle pick up a woman who had been walking in the area of Manchester and Lincoln streets.


Suspecting prostitution activity, Murphy followed the vehicle as it left the area, driving into St. Augustine cemetery on South Beech Street, where the vehicle parked. Murphy approached the vehicle and made observations that led him to believe the couple was about to engage in sexual contact.

Larry Phelps, 74, of Bow and Taran Brooks, 29, of Manchester were both charged with prostitution based on further investigation by Murphy that developed information indicating the couple had engaged in an agreement where Brooks accepted cash in exchange for sexual contact with Phelps.
