New Hampshire Audubon

NH Audubon, a beautiful gem waiting to be discovered!

A few nights ago, I was downstairs making up my grocery list and I kept hearing this screeching and I honestly thought an owl was after my rabbits.

I went out the back door to find that one of my cats had gotten a young bird.  She did not hurt the bird its just seemed like it was more of a toy to her. I brought the bird in the house, gloved of course, and the poor thing was exhausted. I gave it a warm bath in a bowl to clean it up a little an it seemed to be fine, no cuts or punctures. I put it in a box for the night and the next morning I checked it and it was in great condition. I had no idea where it had come from nor did I have any clue as to what type of bird it was. I tried to see if it would fly away and it would not so we made the decision to bring it to The Audubon.

So I loaded up the truck with my kids, a family friend and the bird and headed over to The Audubon. When we arrived we were met by some really friendly people that were more than willing to help us out. The gentleman we meant, Chris, made a phone call to a women in Henniker that does bird rehab and within moments arrangements were made for her to come pick up this little bird.  We were informed that it was about two weeks old and it was a Phoebe. The point to my story is there is this amazing jewel that is called The New Hampshire Audubon.

They are a nonprofit organization that really do a good thing. They were so incredibly friendly and let us explore all the animals they had on site and my children, my friend and I really enjoyed the visit! They offer a wide variety of programs, even a kids camp. They have trails you can hike, picnic areas, a Nature Store and you can even rent out a function room for birthday parties, weddings, meetings, conferences, celebrations, and memorial services.

With school ending soon and a summer full of activities make The New Hampshire Audubon on Silk Farm Road in Concord one of your stops! Enjoy!
