NH State Rep. Baldasaro Continues Homophobic Attacks

NH State Representative with penchant for anti-gay, homophobic behavior makes unbecoming remark one short Tweet after wishing his mother rests in peace

NH State Rep. Al Baldasaro, R-Londonderry, well-known for his homophobic and anti-gay remarks applauding the booing of a gay solider and claiming that the State of New Hampshire is selling children to LGBT couples, continued his pattern of anti-gay attacks in a Tweet to the openly gay NH Democratic Party Chairman this morning:

“@ChairmanBuckley Pervert you could be shot by a criminal because you can’t protect yourself after turning the house into a no gun zone.” *

The offensive tweet came just one message after Baldasaro announced that his mother had passed away.

“Rep. Al Baldasaro continues to be an embarrassment to New Hampshire and our live free and equal values,” said Zandra Rice Hawkins, director of Granite State Progress. “The Granite State has proven time and again that it values all families. Republican leaders and activists in the state should take immediate and decisive action to stop Rep. Baldasaro’s discriminatory attacks. This behavior is unbecoming of an elected official.”

* The comment came during an exchange over whether to ban deadly weapons in the State House chamber and gallery. The House voted 196-153 to adopt the ban; Baldasaro – who voted last session to remove licensing and background requirements to own a gun – opposed the measure.
