Spader Asks For Reduced Sentence Hearing

He was convicted of hacking Kimberly Kates to death and nearly killing her daughter Jaimie in the same manner.

There are some crimes that are so heinous, so despicable, so shocking in their depth of depravity that even if there was a chance of rehabilitation for the offender, as a society we have the right to say, your choice to act in this manner precludes you from ever again being a part of a civilized community.

Steven Spader, who was convicted of hacking Kimberly Kates to death and nearly killing her daughter Jaimie in the same manner, has filed for a reduced sentence. This is due to a recent United States Supreme Court decision that says anyone under 18 must be considered for a lesser sentence then a mandatory life sentence. The key word is here is considered. Does anyone believe - including Spader’s lawyers - that after all the consideration in the world there is a judge in this state who would consider for an instant a sentence of less then life in prison for this piece of trash with a pulse.

We hear all the time about how criminals regret their actions, about how remorseful they are and how if they only had another chance they would have chosen a different path. If this walking piece of trash Spader, had a milligram of humanity running through his body he would know there is no redemption for the crimes he committed. He would know that to put this family through another hearing, forcing them to relive the horrors of his inhuman acts, is another despicable act as cold blooded as the crimes he committed.

Spader asking for a resentencing  hearing shows the depth of his depravity. He clearly doesn’t realize or care about the absolute heinous nature of his acts. Spader made his choice when he attacked Kimberly and Jamie Kates. We should not be spending one more cent then is absolutely necessary to keep this pice of trash locked up in a cage until the day he dies.
